About
Munsiyari is situated in the Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand state. Nestled in the snow capped peaks of the Himalayas;Munsiyari at an altitude of 2250mts offers splendid views of scenic snow capped peaks. Munsiyari literally translated means “place with snow”, and is also referred as Little Kashmir. Khalia top is the highest point (3500mt) and gives you scenic  views of the snow-clad peaks  of Panchachuli, Rajrambha,  Hardeol, Nanda Kot, and Nanda Devi .Panchachuli is a group of five peaks and is the star attraction at Munsiyari. Flora and Fauna consist of  Rhododendrons, Pine and Deodar trees, Birds like Wagtail, Raven, Falcon, Monal, Himalayan griffon and serpent eagle. Leopard, Himalayan bear, Fox and Musk deer have made their home in the altitude jungles of Munsiyari. Temperature ranges from 20 to 30 degrees  in May-June
How to Reach
By Bus:
 Bus from Anand Vihar ISBT to Almora (337 km- 6 hrs)and then another bus to Munsiyari(225 kms-6hrs) One can also take a bus from Pithoragarh, which is 135 km from Munsiyari.
If Anyone Reaches Haldwani late in the morning they can break journey at Thal,Almora and take the bus for munsiyari. You can get buses from Delhi Anand-vihar ISBT  (Delhi-Munsiyari bus - 5 PM) .
From Haldwani, Tanakpur, Almora, buses are available till Thal. Cab from Thal till Munsiyari on sharing basis available.
By Train
The nearest railheads to Munsiyari are Kathgodam and Tanakpur. The distance from Tanakpur Railway station to Munsiyari is 286 kms, and Kathgodam Railway station is situated at a distance of 275 kms from Munsiyari. Taxis and buses are easily available from Tanakpur and Kathgodam to Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Munsiyari. Tanakpur and Kathgodam are well connected by railway networks with major destinations of India.
By Air
The nearest airport to Munsiyari is Pantnagar Airport  249 kms from Munsiyari . Taxis are available from Pantnagar Airport to Pithoragarh, Almora, Bageshwar and Munsiyari. Pantnagar is connected to Delhi four round trips flight per week and it is well connected by metalled road with Munsiyari. The nearest International airport is at New Delhi around 600 kms from Munsiyari. Naini Saini Airport is situated in Pithoragarh but flights to Naini Saini are not very frequent .
7D/6N itinerary
Day 1:- Reporting at Base camp Munsiyari. (7200 ft)
Day 2:- Orientation and Acclimatization
Day 3:- Trek Base Camp to Martoli Thatch 10.5 Km--5 hrs(8500 ft)
Day 4:- Trek Martoli Thatch to Roodkhan 6.5km--4 hrs(9000 ft)
Day 5:- Trek Roodkhan to Tanti (Khaliya top) — 10.5 Km 5.5 hrs (11500 ft )
Day 6:- Trek Tanti  to Base Camp Munsiyari  ---12 Km 4 hrs
Day 7:- Checkout after Breakfast

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
This expedition is open to YHAI members who are 15 years above and physically fit. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES
Tented accommodation on sharing basis will be provided. 
FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES
Simple nutritious vegetarian food will be served. No hot water facilities.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG
Dress :Trekking  shoes(If new-use for a month), T-shirts/Dryfit T-shirts(3), Trackpants(2), Track suit, Woolen/Polyfill/Down Jacket(1),wind jacket(1),balaclava/monkey cap, gloves, Thermals, inner garments , light raincoat with hood, 3 pairs of woolen socks.
Accessories: water bottle, lunch box, enameled or steel mug or tumbler, plate, spoon, water purifying tablets, pen-knifes, needle, thread, spare buttons ,goggles (other than blue glasses), cold cream or Vaseline, soap, toilet paper, towel, medicines which you normally use at home. 
FACTS
SAFETY & SECURITY
Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of route for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
SAFETY & DISCIPLINE:
The equipments given are to be kept safe. Any damage to equipment due to negligence of participant, the cost will be borne by the participant.
Behavior during camp
Participants are expected to behave cordially with each other and staff. Any misbehavior/harassment will be a cause for check-out from camp and also being blacklisted from further YHAI camps.
Drugs/Liquor/smoking
Intake of Alcohol/drugs and smoking is strictly prohibited during camp. Anyone found doing the same will be immediately checked out from the camp premises.
Certificates
Participants who successfully complete the trekking and abide by the discipline of the programme , will be awarded certificate.
Eco-friendly trek
Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter or spoil the trail in any way. Please deposit any wrapper/plastics at the base camp.
Note : Yhai trekking expeditions are not subsidized by any Government or Donor.
JUSTICE T.P.S. CHAWLA MEMORIAL ADVENTURE SCHOLARSHIP FOR GIRLS
This is for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/certificates.
Adventure Scholarship for Physically Challenged:
YHAI announces 50 adventure scholarships of Rs.2350/- each to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates.
SPECIAL CASUAL LEAVE:
The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
