This route is of scenic beauty and cultural diversity. It has vast tracts of meadows and pastures lying across beautiful mountains. Chanderkhani, located at a height of 12,190 ft. provides an awesome and breathtaking view of some of the most beautiful snow clad mountain peaks like Tiger Thatch, Ali Ratni, Inderasan and Priyadarshini Range.
Chanderkhani, one of the most popular trekking routes in the Shivalik Range. The trek  route passes through dense forest with a variety of botanical species of thich and colourful foliage emanating enchanting fragrance, compelling passerby to view and appreciate the raw natural beauty. You may also meet simple Himachali folks who are proud of their land, culture and heritage. Malana is the only one village where residents still retains its 2000 years old traditions of a “Village Republic”. They have a distinct way of life, social customs, judicial system and ethics.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the expedition is to expose the YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigours of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting adventure in tandem with national.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAM: 10 Days / 9 Nights
REPORTING DATES: There will be 50 participants in each group on each reporting dates between 26th April to 31stMay’2014
PROGRAM ITINEARY
Day 1: Reporting at base camp.
Day 2: Briefing and acclimatization.
Day 3: Rock climbing and rappelling 
Day 4: Base camp to Malana Project by bus, then trek to Yosgo, Distance - 5 km(approx) (9000 ft) (4 hrs)
Day 5: Trek from Yosgo camp to Behali campsite via Malana village, Distance - 8 km (approx)(8900 ft) (3 hrs)
Day 6: Trek from Behali campsite to Waching, Distance - 7 km (approx) (9300 ft) (3 hrs)
Day 7: Trek from Waching to Nagroni, Distance - 5 km (approx) (10,000 ft) (5 hrs)
Day 8:  Trek from Nagroni to Nauya Tapru via Chandrakhani pass, Distance - 14 km (approx) (9000 ft) (7 hrs)
Day 9:  Nauya Tapru to Naggar via Rumsu Village and transfer to Base Camp by Bus, Distance – 7 km (approx) (4 hrs)
Day 10: Check out after breakfast

CANCELLATION RULES: 
In case you are unable to join this trip you will get 50 % of the program fee as refund, provided your request is received directly in the National Office on or before 5th April’2014.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: This expedition is open to YHAI members who are 18 years above and physically fit. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.
HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP: Youth Hostel- Seobagh is 3kms from Kullu and on the left of the banks of meandering river Beas, near Jairu Mineral Water plant. It is linked by road via Ram Shila & Gamon Bridge, and commands a panoramic view of surrounding mountains. Regular bus services are available for Kullu from Delhi, Chandigarh & Punjab. The nearest Railway Stations are Ambala& Chandigarh & the nearest Airport is Bhuntar.
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:  Tented accommodation will be provided.
FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES:  Simple , nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:  Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Woolen sweaters or Jackets, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold Cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, medicines which you normally use at home, Camera.
SAFETY & SECURITY:  YHAI Group Insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take personal insurance cover for your journey and other related matters. Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking routed for your safety. JUSTICE TPS CHAWLA MEMORIAL ADVENTURE SCHOLARSHIP FOR GIRLS: YHAI announces Justice TPS Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls to participate in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
SPECIAL CASUAL LEAVE: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION: After the completion of each trekking expedition, a photography competition will be held for which attractive cash prizes and certificates will be awarded. You may also send your entries in the form of colored slides or prints on the following subjects: Nature-birds, Flowers, Scenic Beauty, Camping and Trekking. The size of the prints should be 8” x 10”. Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph. YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards due to acknowledgement/compensation. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July 2014.

After completing 43 years in Himalayan Trekking, Youth Hostels Association of India once again brings the National Himalayan Trekking Expedition– SAR Pass, 2014, in the beautiful Parvati valley of Kullu District in Himachal Pradesh. SAR Pass is one of the most popular trails of the Shivalik range of the mighty Himalayas. Parvati valley abounds in natural beauty with snow clad mountains, perennial rivulets, streams and waterfalls, picturesque meadows in the midst of dense forests of Devdar and Fir trees, which beckon the young adventure lover to come and experience the serene and calm atmosphere of all pervading nature.

SAR Pass Trail offers an opportunity to enjoy the exquisite beauty of the Parvati valley with Kasol, Tila Lotni, Biskeri and Manikaran as its beauty spots. Kasol is famous for its cool and pleasant climate and tall pine trees. Tila Lotni can literally be called the little ICE LAND, where one can experience the challenges of nature in full fury, during spine chilling cold nights. The splendid views of snowy peaks offer an endless feast to the eyes. Biskeri fascinates the trekkers with its sweet grasses, wild flowers and a variety of birds. Hot water springs of Manikaran, are bliss. A natural hot water bath at these springs relieves you of all the tiredness and rejuvenates the body, mind and soul with a new energy.

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP: For SAR Pass trail, our base camp is at Kasol which is linked by road from Kullu via Bhuntar, it is 5kms short of Manikaran, famous for hot water springs, Regular bus services are available from Kullu and Bhuntar to reach Kasol, Direct Buses are also available to Manikaran from Chandigarh and other parts of Punjab. Base Camp Kasol is linked with Delhi- Kullu- Manali highway via Bhuntar. Bhuntar is 11km short from Kullu. Nearest railheads are Ambala and Chandigarh. Nearest Airport is Bhuntar.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: The minimum age for a member to join the program is 15 years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES: Tented accommodation, pucca toilet cum bathroom facility, at the base camp.
FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES: Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals.

SAFETY & SECURITY: Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
Notice for Participants:
1.       Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any desciption is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.
2.       Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.
3.       Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.
4.       This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.
5.       Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.

હરવા-ફરવાની સાથે ટ્રેકીંગને એડવેન્ચર માનવામાં આવે છે. ખાસ કરીને શિયાળામાં ડિસેમ્બર મહિનો એ ઠંડી દરમિયાન  દાર્જીલિંગ, ડેલહાઉસી, કાશ્મીર વગેરે જેવા સ્થાળોએ યંગસ્ટર્સ ગુ્રપમાં જવાનું વધારે પસંદ કરતા હોય છે. ડિસેમ્બરમાં આ બે જગ્યાએ ટ્રેકિંગ કરવા જઈ રહેલા યંગસ્ટર્સનું માનવું છે કે, આ સમયગાળો થોડો ફ્રી હોય છે અને બરફચ્છાદિત્ત પ્રદેશોમાં અનોખી મજા આવે છે.
ટ્રેકિંગ કરવા જઈ રહેલા પાર્થ પડસાલ કહે છે કે, ડિસેમ્બર મહિનાની શરૃઆતમાં એક્ઝામ પૂરી થઈ ગઈ છે. સાથે આ મહિનામાં હિમાચલ જેવા પ્રદેશોમાં બરફ પડવાની શરૃઆત થઈ જાય છે. તેથી અમે ડેલહાઉસી જવાની તૈયારીઓ કરી રહ્યાં છે.
જ્યારે અન્ય યંગસ્ટર્સ ભૌમિક પટેલ કહે છે કે, હું દર વર્ષે ડિસેમ્બર મહિનામાં જ ટ્રેકિંગ કરવાનું પસંદ કરું છું. શિયાળામાં પર્વતોએ બરફની ચાદર ઓઠી લીધી હોય છે. જેનું કુદરતી સૌંદર્ય માણવાનો નજારો વિન્ટર ટાઈમમાં જ મળે છે.

ટ્રેકિંગ પહેલા
બરફની સાથે મોજ મસ્તી કરવા માટે આ ઋતુને શ્રેષ્ઠ છે. ઠંડા પ્રદેશોમાં જતા પહેલા ગરમ કપડા, સ્વેટર, થર્મલ, ટ્રેકપેન્ટ, હાથ પગના ગરમ મોજા, ગ્રીપવાળા શુઝ વગેરે સાથે રાખવા.

ટ્રેકિંગ દરમિયાન
બરફની ચાદર ઓઢી લીધી હોય તેવા પહાડો અને ખડક ચઢાણ માટે શારિરીક અને માનસિર રીતે તૈયાર રહેવું પડે છે સાથે આંખો પર મોટા ચશ્મા, બરફ પર ખૂંપી શકે તેવા શૂઝ અને ગમર કપડા, મેડિસીનનો સહોરો લેવો પડે છે

ટ્રેકીંગ વિશે માહિતી આપતા મૂકેશભાઈ કહે છે કે, આ ઋતુમાં બરફવાળા પ્રેદેશોમાં રસ્તાઓ પેક થઈ ગયા હોય છે. તેથી ફરવાનું ઓછું અને ટ્રેકીંગ વધારે થાય છે.

National Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition-Manali: 2013-14

For the first time Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in Manali. This program has been designed to fulfill the demand of the YHAI members who want to participate in trekking during winter. So we decided to organize this program in very famous hill station  Manali  in Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Manali is most picturesque valley, is also known as the Queen of Hill station, located on the bank of river Beas river. Kullu valley is known as Valley of God. This expedition  will cover places of importance like Hadimba temple, Old Manali, Vasisth,etc. If you are lucky then you may experience the snow fall during your expedition.

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP   
By Bus
Manali is about 560 kms from Delhi, 280 kms from Shimla & 350 kms from Chandigarh. HRTC/Himachal Tourism operates Volvo buses for Manali.
By Train
Nearest railway station  are Ambala(310 kms) and Chandigarh(310 kms).
SCHEDULE
Day 1- Reporting at the base camp International Youth Hostel Manali before 15-00 PM. Orientation at 17-00 PM. 
Day 2- Acclimatization walk and trek  to Prini village and Shuru village. From  here one can visit Shuru temple. (6 to 7 hours). Total distance approximately 5  to 7km. Back to Youth Hostel Manali in the evening.
Day 3- Trek to Hadimba temple, Old Manali village and surrounding area of Manali. Back to Manali Youth Hostel in the evening.  (6 to 7 hours) Total distance approximately 9 to 10 KMs) 
Day 4– Trek to  Vashisth village which is known for it's natural hot sulphur  water.  ( 7to 8 hours) The total distance is approximately 11 to 12 km.
Day 5– After breakfast the group breaks. ( 9-00AM) 
HOW TO JOIN
Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed registration form (Download) duly supported by a Medical Certificate (Download), along with a DD of requisite amount in favour of “ Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New delhi.  Online booking is available through Schedule & Seats of the program. Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branch in their respective area.
N.B: Without admit card and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.

  • POGRAMME SCHEDULE : DAY 1- Report at youth hostel Bhubaneswar and visit around the city. , DAY 2- Visit Nandan kanan zoo, Khandagiri and Udaygiri Buddhist caves. , DAY 3 - Visit Dhauli shanti stupa, Konark sun temple and visit the famous lord Jagannath dham at Puri - the only undisputed pilgrimage of the world. Back to hostel and night halt. DAY 4- Boating in Chillika Lake and visit Kalijai &bird watching back to BHUBANESWAR and night halt. DAY 5- Disperse after lunch.

  • FEES: The fee for this program is Rs. 5000/-, for a family consisting of Wife, Husband & Two Children below the age of 12 years. The fee will cover stay in rooms (one room for one family), at the Hostel & Nutritious Vegetarian Meals. Total transportation cost will be bear by the participants, however we will provide good transportation facility& guides to make your trip easy as per your requirement.

  • CANCELLATION : In case you are unable to join the programme after paying the participation fees, you will get 50% of the program fee as refund, provided, your request is received directly to YHAI West Bengal State Branch, through email on yhaiwestbengal@gmail.com or contact@yhaindia.org, or through cancellation letter posted to YHAI West Bengal State Branch, at least 15 days in advance from your Reporting Date. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice of request falls short of 15 days.

  • HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP : It’s 93 KM from Air, Rail & Bus head. Railway Stn. in New Jalpaiguri and the airport at Bagdogra being the link to the outside world. From there Jeep/Taxi service to Kalimpong is 3.5 hrs. From Kalimpong to Shilarigaon YHAI is 24 kms. You can avail by Jeep/taxi.
  • ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES: Each family will get one room with attached toilet.
  • FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES : 1) Sufficient nutritious vegetarian food & drinking water,
  • 2) Washing of clothes is restricted.

  • The exotic wildlife, bird sanctuaries and Marine National Park thrill you with nature’s majestic creation. Picturesque seaside with its sandy beaches makes you realize the magnificence of nature. The lovely places remind you of nature’s unending beauty and the sacred places provide you with the unique spiritual experience and unity with the ultimate truth, the God.    
  • DWARKA : is 145 Kms from Jamnagar. The sacred town of Dwarka, one of the main centers of the Krishna legend.
  • Dwarkadhish Temple: In the middle of the town is the Dwarkadhish Temple, which was built in the 16th century.
  • Rukshmaniji Temple: 1.5 Kms from Dwarka on Okha Highway, on the banks of Bhagirathi River, is the Temple of Rukshmaniji, the Patrani of Lord Krishna.
  •  Gomti Ghat: This is the place where Gomti River meets the Ocean; Pilgirms take the privialage here for a holy dip. if one wants then they can take a ferry and cross the Ghat and reach the opposite bank and visit the places of Pandavas.
  • Bet Dwarka: Also known as Bet Shankhodar was a full fledged port before the development of Okha Port. It was the residing of Lord Krishnas Queens. In the Temple of of the Bet, the idols of the queens such as Lakshmiji, Radhaji, Satyabhamaji, Jambuvantiji are main. On the Island there are 23 Shivalays, 20 Vaishnav Temples, 9 Hanuman Temples, 6 DeviTemples including other many temples.
  • Gopi Talav:Gopis used to take bath in this lake so it’s called Gopi Talav. The red mud around the lake is called `Gopi Chandan' 
  • Shardapeetha: Aadh Shankracharya in 491 AD founded this peetha himself as the 4th peeth.Aadh Sankracharya had founded 4 peeths for withholding the traditions of India.
  • Nageshwar Mahadeva Temple : contains one of the 12 Shiva jyotirlings in an underground sanctum. It is 17 km from Dwarka
  • Poshitra ( Bhadu) Point : Poshitra Point i s locateda bout 35 km f rom Dwarka near Poshitra village This pointi s knowna s Bhadu Point among locals Poshitra is a sheltered bay in the Gulf of Kachchh A group of small island surround this point . Brightly Coloured sponges and nudibranchs in addition to the extensive coral growth are main att raction of this place.

  • After complete of One Group booking, the booking for next group will be done.
  • Participation Fees : Rs. 2150/- (Member), Rs. 2250/- (Non Member) which covers stay in dormitory / tent accommodation, simple vegetarian food, Expert guidance, forest entry fees, transportation.Charges for any Camera are not included in the fees.
  • Cancellation: - Notice before 15 days, 50% of fee refund, less than that No Refund.

  • How to reach Dwarka (Gujarat) :
  • Dwarka is well connected with all major parts of the country by Railway and Road. (Ahmedabad is about 450 kms and Rajkot 217kms and Jamnagar 147 kms from Dwarka.
  • Programme Schedule :
  • Day 1 :- Reporting at Dwarka at 02:00 pm Base Camp. Visit to Dwarka Jagat Mandir & surrounding holy places.
  • Day 2 :- Visit to Bhadu Marine National Park, Nageshwar Mandir.
  • Day 3 :- Visit Bet-Dwarka and back to Dwarka.
  • Day 4 :- Visit to Shivrajpur Beach and Back to Dwarka & Group Break after Lunch.

  • Certificates : This Programme is approved by the YHAI, Gujarat State Branch. Participants, who successfully complete the programme and maintain discipline in the programme, will be awarded certificates.
